Wind Tunnel Test of a Highly-Compact Serpentine Supersonic Inlet Will Be Presented at AIAA AVIATION Forum 2022

CRAFT Tech will be presenting wind tunnel testing of a highly-compact serpentine supersonic inlet. Mr. Stephen Barr will be presenting at the AIAA AVIATION Forum 2022 in Chicago, Illinois to be held from June 27 to July 1.

Title: Wind Tunnel Test of a Highly-Compact Serpentine Supersonic Inlet

Authors: Stephen Barr, Roger Birkbeck, Praveen Panickar, and Neeraj Sinha

Abstract: This paper presents the design and execution of a wind tunnel test for a highly-compact serpentine supersonic inlet at Mach 2. The goal of this wind tunnel testing is to validate the computational methods used to design the supersonic inlet. The test occurred at the tri-sonic wind tunnel facility at the National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA). This paper details the design of the components for control of the supersonic flow in the inlet and for data collection methods. Efficiency is compared between the CFD and experiment at the AIP, and measurements agree within 3%.
