Both CRUNCH CFD and CRISP CFD were used to demonstrate separation in a notional Apollo capsule from the booster stage. Mesh adaptation was used to refine the grid during separation. The simulation was performed for a freestream mach number of 0.9 at a 20 degree angle of attack for a capsule velocity of -20 m/s and a booster velocity of 20 m/s.
