2026 Henry R. Worthington Medal Winner

CRAFT Tech is proud to announce that Dr. Ashvin Hosangadi, Vice President and founding member of the company, has been awarded the 2026 Henry R. Worthington Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to pumping machinery, systems, and concepts. First established in 1980 by Worthington Pump, Inc., the award highlights exemplary technical achievements that advance the field.

Dr. Hosangadi has led the development of CRUNCH CFD, CRAFT Tech’s multi‑element, unstructured computational fluid dynamics code. For more than three decades, he has made advancements in CFD modeling for complex flows, with specialization in multi‑phase gas–liquid and gas–solid systems. His recent work has involved the development of numerical models for cryogenic and other non-ideal fluids, including supercritical CO2, operating near their critical point.  The real-fluid physics models include phase change with thermodynamic effects, high pressure supercritical combustion, and coupled fluid-thermal problems such as regenerative cooling.

In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Hosangadi has supported the design and analysis of numerous high‑energy industrial pump systems, addressing issues ranging from pump instabilities to acoustics and cavitation performance. He co‑authored the chapter “CFD Analysis of Flow and Performance” with Dr. Paul Cooper in the Pump Handbook and previously received the 2013 ASME Sankaraiyer Gopalakrishnan–Flowserve Pump Technology Award, recognizing emerging leaders in pump engineering. He is also a former chairman of ASME’s Propulsion Technical Committee and has also served as the associate editor of the Journal of Mechanical Design. Over his career, he has authored more than 150 publications and served as principal investigator or program manager on over 50 R&D programs.

Dr. Hosangadi will attend the ASME Fluids Engineering Division Summer Meeting (FEDSM) in Bellevue, WA in July 2026 to receive the Worthington Medal. As part of the event, Dr. Hosangadi will deliver a keynote lecture on the effects of phase change on performance of turbomachinery operating at transcritical conditions.

CRAFT Tech congratulates Dr. Hosangadi on this well‑deserved recognition and celebrates his continued leadership and innovation in fluid dynamics and pump technology.
