Combustion Research and Flow Technology (CRAFT Tech) personnel have been working for the past twenty years on a variety of aircraft and rotorcraft system technology areas. These include: the prediction of accurate 3D aircraft/rotorcraft flowfields with plumes; the design and evaluation of advanced concepts for suppression of jet noise and IR signatures; solution of aeroacoustics problems related to unsteady turbulence effects in weapons bay cavities; and laser weapons and countermeasures design where density fluctuations impact the performance of the systems. Aspects of this work have involved the development of advanced, non-isotropic turbulence models as well unsteady hybrid LES models to accurately predict these complex flowfields.
